Horizon Staffing Resources is seeking a full-time Special Education Science teacher in Cranford, NJ. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of proper teaching techniques for students with physical, mental, emotional, and/or learning disabilities, as well as a fundamental understanding of the sciences. The teacher will develop teaching plans tailored to special learners, work closely with support staff, and assess students’ progress to help them achieve learning milestones.
Schedule/Hours:
- Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri. – 7:30am to 3:30pm
- Wed. – 7:30am to 4:30pm
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse disabilities.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that accommodates the unique learning needs of each student.
- Utilize various teaching methods and adaptive materials to facilitate student engagement and comprehension.
- Collaborate with special education team members, educational therapists, and support staff to address students' academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Assess and monitor student progress regularly, adjusting teaching strategies as needed to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
- Foster effective communication with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to provide updates on student progress and address concerns.
- Employ assistive technology and adaptive resources to enhance the learning experience for students with disabilities.
- Attend and actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, collaborating with the IEP team to set goals and objectives for each student.
- Implement behavior management strategies to create a positive and respectful classroom environment.
- Stay informed about developments in special education practices, policies, and technologies to continuously improve teaching methods and student outcomes.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Must be fingerprinted by the NJ Department of Education
- Certification as New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities required.
- NJ Standard Certification for Teacher of Science required.
- Knowledge of various disabilities and effective instructional strategies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
