Special Education Teacher – Bridgeton, NJ

Horizon Staffing Resources is seeking full-time Special Education classroom teachers in Bridgeton, NJ. The ideal candidates will have knowledge of proper teaching techniques for students with physical, mental, emotional, and/or learning disabilities. The teachers will develop teaching plans tailored to special learners, work closely with support staff, and assess student’s progress to help them achieve learning milestones.
Schedule/Hours:
- Monday through Friday
- Pre-k grade: 8:45am to 4:15pm
- Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades: 8:30am to 4:00pm
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse disabilities.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that accommodates the unique learning needs of each student.
- Utilize various teaching methods and adaptive materials to facilitate student engagement and comprehension.
- Collaborate with special education team members, educational therapists, and support staff to address students' academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Assess and monitor student progress regularly, adjusting teaching strategies as needed to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
- Foster effective communication with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to provide updates on student progress and address concerns.
- Employ assistive technology and adaptive resources to enhance the learning experience for students with disabilities.
- Attend and actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, collaborating with the IEP team to set goals and objectives for each student.
- Implement behavior management strategies to create a positive and respectful classroom environment.
- Stay informed about developments in special education practices, policies, and technologies to continuously improve teaching methods and student outcomes.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Must be fingerprinted by the NJ Department of Education
- Certification as New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities required.
- Knowledge of various disabilities and effective instructional strategies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to the success and well-being of students with special needs.
